Lately, I’ve been noticing how quickly childhood seems to be slipping away.
Tiny hands swiping screens.
Little hearts absorbing adult emotions.
There’s less wonder, less play… and it breaks my heart.
When I was a little girl, my grandmother would make up the most magical stories.
There was Witch Pinkie, who lived in her garden fountain…
And the Gruffalo, who (apparently) had taken up residence in her attic.
I truly believed her.
And honestly, part of me still does. 🌝
Those stories weren’t just entertainment. They were emotional nourishment.
They gave me permission to imagine, to feel safe, to belong in a magical world that didn’t rush me to be older, faster, tougher.
And that’s what I want for every child today.
